Hormonal Therapy meets Energy Based Treatments for Intimate Health: The Door x The Marion Gluck Clinic

Many women experience intimate health concerns—vaginal dryness, discomfort, pain during intercourse, or urinary incontinence—especially during perimenopause and menopause. Yet these issues are often under-discussed, leaving many to struggle in silence.

Dr Ghazala Aziz-Scott is the Clinical Director at the Marion Gluck Clinic—the UK’s largest clinic for bioidentical hormone therapy. The clinic specialises in holistic hormonal care that supports women through the physical and emotional shifts that come with hormonal change. She also practices here from The Door to support our clients in their hormone healing journies.

Recently, Dr Ghazala sat down with Dr Sarah Jenkins, a women’s health and aesthetics doctor based at The Door W4, to explore how combining hormonal therapy with innovative treatments like Morpheus8V can offer more complete support and tackle the root cause of intimate health problems. Morpheus8V is a treatment available on the EmpowerRF platform by InMode that uses microneedling and radiofrequency energy to stimulate collagen and rejuvenate vaginal tissue.

In the article below, we’ll explore why this combined approach is so effective and how it’s helping women regain comfort, confidence, and control over their intimate health.

Support for Women's Intimate Health Concerns

At The Door, our mission is to support women with the most advanced, effective, and non-invasive approaches to health and wellbeing—especially when it comes to areas of life that are too often overlooked, like intimate health.

Changes in vaginal tone, hydration, and function can significantly affect quality of life. Common concerns include:

  • Urinary leakage or urgency
  • Vaginal dryness or atrophy
  • Pain or discomfort during intercourse
  • Loss of tone or elasticity
  • Visible or structural changes to the vulva

These symptoms are more common than many realise—but they’re not something you simply have to accept. By combining hormone balancing with advanced tissue treatments such as Morpheus8V, there’s now a holistic way to target both the causes and the symptoms of these changes.

To explore this in more detail, Dr. Ghazala Aziz-Scott and Dr. Sarah Jenkins sat down together to share their clinical insights and personal experiences. In the video below, they discuss how hormonal therapy and Morpheus8V complement one another, how the RF treatment works, what to expect, and why this integrated approach is transforming care for women in perimenopause, menopause, and beyond.

What is Morpheus8V?

Morpheus8V is a non-surgical radiofrequency (RF) treatment delivered through the EmpowerRF platform by InMode. Using ultra-fine microneedles, it gently delivers energy deep into the vaginal tissues, stimulating collagen and elastin production to regenerate and strengthen the tissue over time.

For many women, especially during perimenopause and menopause, hormonal changes can lead to vaginal dryness, discomfort, and a loss of elasticity. Morpheus8V, available on the EmpowerRF machine, goes beyond surface-level treatments by reaching deeper layers of tissue to address these underlying issues, improving the strength, tone, and hydration of the vaginal walls.

The treatment is minimally invasive and performed with a local numbing cream, eliminating the need for general anaesthesia. Most women report little to no discomfort and can return to normal activities within 24 hours.

Combining Morpheus8V with Hormonal Therapies

Hormonal therapies, such as oestrogen creams and bioidentical hormone replacement, are commonly used to support vaginal health, particularly during perimenopause and menopause. These therapies work by replenishing the hormones that naturally decline during these stages of life, primarily oestrogen, which plays a key role in maintaining the health and function of vaginal tissues.

Oestrogen-based treatments, like creams or vaginal rings, help restore moisture, improve lubrication, and balance pH, which can be disrupted due to hormonal changes. This can relieve symptoms like vaginal dryness, itching, and discomfort during intercourse, providing much-needed relief to many women.

However, while hormonal therapies address these surface-level concerns by supporting the outer layers of vaginal tissue, they don’t penetrate deeper into the dermal layers. This deeper tissue is where collagen production takes place, which is essential for maintaining the strength, elasticity, and overall structure of vaginal tissue.

“I think it’s useful for us to understand that the hormone treatments tackle just the superficial epithelium of the vagina, whereas there is a deeper dermal layer of the vaginal tissues that has fibroblasts that produce collagen.” – Dr Ghazala Aziz-Scott, Clinical Director, The Marion Gluck Clinic

Combining hormonal therapy with Morpheus8V offers a holistic approach that addresses both the symptoms and underlying causes of intimate health concerns, helping women achieve more complete and lasting improvements.

Dr. Ghazala’s Personal Experience with Morpheus8V

After referring many of her own patients to Dr. Sarah Jenkins, Dr. Ghazala also tried the treatment herself:

“It wasn’t uncomfortable, even after the procedure I found that within 24 hours I was pretty much back to normal again." - Dr Ghazala Aziz-Scott

Many women are pleasantly surprised by how straightforward and comfortable the treatment process is. The procedure is performed with a numbing cream, ensuring minimal discomfort, and it’s quick and efficient—allowing you to return to your daily activities within just a day. Over the next few weeks, they notice gradual, significant improvements in vaginal tone, moisture, comfort, and control, with results continuing to build after each session:

“It was really interesting to see even immediately after there was an increased blood flow to the area, the tissues immediately looked healthier, and after the third treatment I could see that there had been a significant improvement.” - Dr Ghazala Aziz-Scott
