O-Shot Vaginal Rejuvenation

The ‘O’ shot injection is used to treat sexual dysfunction and involves the injection of PRP (platelet rich plasma) around the clitoris and vaginal area. PRP is a component of our blood; the abbreviation stands for Platelet Rich Plasma. Platelets contain growth factors that have a rejuvenating effect and help to repair the tissue that they are injected into.

How does it work

There are five major components when we consider sexual function: arousal, desire, lubrication, pain and orgasm. Unlike other treatment options PRP injections (The ‘O’ shot) have been shown to improve all five of these components. PRP has been shown to increase the pluripotent stem cells, the increase of these cells results in rejuvenation and the release of growth factors. These growth factors that are released have been shown to enhance blood supply and nerve growth.  There has also been evidence to show a reduction in discomfort during sex due to the collagen remodelling and nerve growth.

One of the benefits of the ‘O’ shot is that it is relatively risk free, as PRP comes from your own blood.

Downtime

There is minimal downtime for this procedure. Occasionally there is slight discomfort immediately after the procedure, and it is recommended that sexual activity and baths are avoided in the first 48 hours to prevent infection.
